1.0 out of 5 stars 4th issue and now I'm just done with this unit..., June 21, 2011

2013 Update, third review: My unit is broken... First the motorized screen went completely wonky in 2012 and would randomly move up and down randomly. Sent Customer Service an email. Was told they couldn't help me, that I need to call the support line. Why have an email for support if I have to call? So I called, got put on hold, then disconnected. It could have been my cell phone, I don't know. Ok fine, I called back and sat on hold for over 20 minutes before I just hung up. Eventually the screen just got stuck in the loading position. It won't go up or down. Then months later the sound just started randomly cutting in and out. Finally in late 2012 it just died completely. No sound at all. Troubleshooted it myself, check connections with Ohms meter, finally called customer service while I was off during the holidays. Sat on hold again. Hung up. I'm looking for a new head unit now from any company other than Boss. I don't even want to mess with the awful interface, numerous issues,... Read more

Great deal from Amazon. (270 USD) with Amazon prime shipping. A lot cheaper compared with the other expensive ones in this tough economy.

Pros:
-----
This one is a new version, March 2009 release.

1. In-Built Bluetooth works fine and plays music directly from Iphone without having to connect any wires to it. No hissing nor static noise in the back ground. Audio from Bluetooth is crystal clear.
2. Rear view camera(bought a 40 USD camera from Amazon and hooked it up by myself), DVD player, FM(16 presets), all works as advertised.
3. Cheaper (270 USD) when compared to Pioneer AVH-P3100DVD with Blue tooth which comes to atleast 420 USD.(with the steering wheel interface)
4. I got Pioneer AVH-P3100DVD (just for comparison) and this unit and tried both of them in my Honda Pilot to check how it works and did not see any difference in quality.
5. Bought a soldering Iron(15 USD) and soldered all the wires by myself. (saved 60 USD in... Read more

3.0 out of 5 stars You Get What you Pay For, September 15, 2010

This review is from: Boss BV9560B 7-Inch DVD/MP3/CD Widescreen Bluetooth Receiver with USB and SD Card (Electronics)
I looked for quite a while to find a reasonable priced double din chassis radio replacement for my work van. This unit had the most features for the cheapest price. It has performed fair. The interface is a little cheesy and it is slow to respond. I would like to reserve the deepest depths of hell for whoever put the auto re-memerize your radio station buttons on the main radio screen. A useless feature that is by no means created by or exclusive to Boss. Anyway, other than that the unit performs fair. It's slow to switch from usb to radio, or to bluetooth. Considering the price of around $200 it's OK, just OK. In retrospect I wish I had spend around $500 and installed a unit with a better interface and a little smoother operation.

I did have some wiring harness issues however the tech support at Boss was excellent. If you have a problem with the unit don't hesitate to call support. Check the depth on your dash first, this unit requires extra room if your using the RCA... Read more

Riding the big wave with the Surfboard
Nothing to complain about with this modem. Worked out of the box and was easy to set up. The only thing missing is some sort of status page to show the speed settings.

This review is from: Motorola SB6120 SURFboard DOCSIS 3.0 eXtreme Broadband Cable Modem (Electronics)
As I understand it, this is a great modem to use if you have a very expensive, extremely high speed internet package. The reason for this is that it has bonded channels technology that enables you to get more bandwidth (at high speeds) than the Motorola Surfboard 5120 or 5101. So if you have the top of the line internet package, and a very fast computer, and if the cable internet in your area supports DOCSIS 3.0, this thing could work screaming fast for you.

I do not have screaming fast internet, although my computer is pretty bleeding fast. I can't afford that kind of cost for a monthly subscription, because it is a constant and forever drain of a lot of money, and I don't earn that much money where I can do that.

I am located in the Phoenix, Arizona area, and have the $40/month Preferred internet package. My downstream bandwidth varies a lot by the time of day, it ranges between 13Mbps all the way up to about 23Mbps when almost everyone else is in bed sleeping.

My upstream bandwidth is capped real low, as with most consumer internet packages, so it hardly varies at all. It's almost always the same, at about 1Mbps.

If you want an accurate test of your internet bandwidth, do not use the main bandwidth testing sites. Their tests are way too short in duration and give you an extremely exaggerated notion of your top speeds. Go to testmy dot net and use the largest size tests they will allow you to.

Before purchasing this modem from an unnamed extremely large local retailer, I had read lots and lots of reviews saying that this modem dramatically improved the speed of relatively slow connections. I tested my bandwidth both before and after very thoroughly, both upstream and down. In the before part of my tests, I was using a Motorola Surfboard 5120. I saw absolutely no significant difference in either my upstream or downstream speeds after switching in the newer model. The reason this happened is because the 6120 is designed with the bonded channel DOCSIS 3.0 technology that provides you with more bandwidth *in very high speed applications only*.

So, if you have a bleeding fast internet connection, and your internet service provider supports DOCSIS 3.0 in your area, then you could see quite a large improvement in your bandwidth from this modem, according to everything I have read and heard. However, if like me, you cannot afford that speed of connection, you would be much better off saving your money and either keeping your Motorola Surboard 5120 or 5101, or getting one of those instead, since they are less expensive.
